What You Should Know for visiting Lake Toba

When you planning a visit to Lake Toba, you may get fooled because the lake is more like a sea than lake. Cozy and the atmosphere refreshing, beautiful scenery and charming, with mountains that encircle this area may make you endure. Samosir Island is located in the middle of the island. In the midst of Samosir, there is still more lakes, which add a unique place this tour.

Lake Toba measuring about 1700 square meters with a depth of approximately 450 meters. Located 906 meters above sea level, this place is heaven for many interesting plants. How to Achieve This Area
By using the rental car from the city of Medan, you can reach Parapat within approximately 4 hours. Parapat is located approximately 185 kilometers away from the capital of North Sumatra. You can also use the bus or take a tour to visit this lake.

Gunung Leuser National Park is a representative type of coastal forest ecosystems, tropical rain forest and lowland to the mountains.

Almost the entire area covered by forest lebatnya some Dipterocarpaceae with rivers and waterfalls. There are rare plants and unique leaf that is a giant umbrella (Johannesteijsmannia altifrons), raflesia flower (Rafflesia atjehensis and R. micropylora) and Rhizanthes zippelnii which is a flower with the largest diameter of 1.5 meters. In addition, there is a unique plant or plant strangler fig.

Rare and protected animals that are found in national parks, among others, orang-utan / orangutans (Pongo abelii), gibbon (Hylobates syndactylus syndactylus), Sumatra elephants (Elephas maximus sumatranus), Sumatra rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis sumatrensis), Sumatra tiger (Panthera Tigris sumatrae), forest goat (Capricornis sumatraensis), rangkong (Buceros bicornis), sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), and the wildcat (Prionailurus bengalensis sumatrana).


Gunung Leuser National Park is one established by UNESCO as Cagar Biosfir. Based on the Malaysia-Indonesia cooperation, also defined as a "Sister Park" with the National Park Taman Negara in Malaysia.

Gurah. See and enjoy the natural panorama, valley, hot springs, lakes, waterfalls, observation, such as plants, animals and flowers raflesia, orangutans, birds, snakes and butterfly.
Bohorok. Place orangutans rehabilitation and natural attractions such as river panorama, earth observation and bird camp.
Kluet. Canoe in the rivers and lakes, trekking in the forest and coastal cave tour. This region is the Sumatra tiger habitat.
Sekundur. Camping, cave tours and animal observation.
Ketambe and Suak FRUIT. Primate Research and animals in the house has a library and research.
Gunung Leuser (3,404 m. dpl) and Gn. Candlenut (3314 m. dpl). Shin and mountain climbing.
River rafting in Alas. Activities from rafting Gurah-Muara Situlen-Gelombang for three days.



Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus)
